Sana'a: The cultural and artistic competition organized by Sana'a University's Vice Presidency for Student Affairs, represented by the General Administration of Activities, in cooperation with the University Student Forum, concluded on Tuesday as part of the celebrations marking the Prophet Muhammad's birthday for 1448 AH.
According to Yemen News Agency, the competition, which spanned four days, featured various contests including Quran memorization, religious chanting in praise of the Prophet, theater, traditional folklore, bara'a and zamil performances, and poetry. Specialized judging committees assessed the entries based on pre-defined criteria, providing students with a platform to showcase their talents and develop their creative and cultural skills.
During the closing ceremony, University President Dr. Mohammed Al-Bukhaity commended the quality of the entries and the robust student participation, emphasizing the significance of cultural and artistic activities in shaping students' personalities and enhancing their skills. He highlighted the role of these activities in fostering creativity, self-expression, and community involvement among students.
Dr. Al-Bukhaity remarked that university students form a dynamic and influential segment of society, underscoring that the university's responsibilities extend beyond academic education to include capacity-building, talent development, and the promotion of social responsibility. He further stated that the competition is a component of student activities aimed at discovering and nurturing talents, facilitating interaction among students from various colleges and disciplines, and creating a university environment that encourages creativity, participation, and learning beyond the traditional classroom setting.
