Sana'a: The Deputy Head of the National Supreme Authority for Combating Corruption, Ridan Al-Mutawakkil, engaged in discussions with Mohammad Al-Hakim, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for the Civil Services Sector, focusing on the responsibilities of the sector and its role in providing services to citizens.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting was attended by Authority member Eng. Harith Al-Omari, where Al-Mutawakkil emphasized the Authority's dedication to reinforcing cooperation with the Ministry's civil services sector. This effort aligns with the National Anti-Corruption Strategy, particularly in areas concerning prevention and anti-corruption initiatives, along with streamlining service delivery to the populace.
Al-Hakim expressed the sector's dedication to collaborating with the Authority to enhance service quality for citizens while focusing on prevention and anti-corruption efforts. The meeting underscored the sector's commitment to ensuring that services meet the needs of the public effectively.
During the visit to the Civil Status and Civil Registry Authority, Al-Mutawakkil, accompanied by Al-Omari and Al-Hakim, met with Brig. Hussein Aziz and Brig. Mohammad Al-Hamzi, alongside Ahmed Atef, Secretary-General of the Anti-Corruption Authority. Al-Mutawakkil lauded the Ministry of Interior's achievements, particularly within its service sector and affiliated agencies.
The discussions highlighted the importance of integrating efforts between the Authority and the Ministry's civil services sector within the Government's reform agenda and the National Anti-Corruption Strategy. Al-Mutawakkil called for the development of a matrix of preventive and anti-corruption measures to streamline procedures and alleviate citizen burdens.
Emphasizing the need for awareness and training programs, Al-Mutawakkil highlighted the significance of integrity, public office protection, and fostering a sense of religious and national duty among civil service employees. He advocated for updating the database for financial disclosure requirements, combating illicit enrichment, and enhancing data flow between the Authority and the Civil Status Department through electronic linking.
Al-Hakim reiterated the sector's commitment to cooperating with the Authority to prevent corruption and simplify service procedures. He highlighted the sector's efforts and progress within the Ministry and its agencies, focusing on maintaining the integrity of public services.
The delegation's tour of the Civil Status Authority allowed them to assess equipment levels and observe staff handling citizen transactions, providing insight into the sector's operational capabilities.
