Dhamar:The Public Corporation for Grain Development and Production has initiated the purchase of the summer bean crop from farmers in Dhamar Governorate. This effort is being coordinated with the Munqidhah Association and the Jahran Multipurpose Agricultural Cooperative Association.
According to Yemen News Agency, the initiative aims to bolster agricultural development by expanding the cultivation of grains, legumes, and cash crops. It is also intended to enhance food security and self-sufficiency within the region.
The corporation is offering incentive prices to encourage farmers to increase their production. These prices are designed to cover production costs and ensure reasonable profits, thereby promoting the cultivation of legumes as a viable economic option in the central regions where climatic conditions are favorable.
Furthermore, the initiative seeks to diversify strategic crops, reduce import bills, and decrease foreign currency outflows. By doing so, it aims to reduce dependence on foreign markets and build a sustainable domestic agricultural economy.
