Discussions on Meeting Hajjah Governorate’s Water and Electricity Needs

Sana'a: A meeting held in Sana'a today, which included Deputy Minister of Electricity, Energy, and Water Adel Bader and Hajjah Governor Hilal Al-Sufi, discussed ways to meet the governorate's needs for water, sanitation, and electricity projects.

According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting also included the Undersecretary of the Ministry for the Electricity Sector, Engineer Ahmed Al-Mutawakkil, and the directors of the local water and sanitation corporation in the governorate, Ibrahim Sa'sa'a, the Rural Water Projects Authority, Saleh Al-Fallahi, and the governorate's electricity authority, Abdulrahman Thabit. They addressed mechanisms for maintaining the Nisa Dam to supply the Ain Ali spring and enhance water security. The possibility of exporting surplus solar energy from the water corporation to the Hajjah region's public electricity grid to help meet its needs was also discussed.

The meeting, attended by Fares Al-Shamahi and Mohammed Bashar from the Central Emergency Development Interventions Unit, reviewed ways to reduce diesel consumption by providing the water corporation with lithium batteries. It also looked into procedures for monitoring the local water and sanitation corporation's outstanding debts with government offices and finding necessary solutions, as well as the Al-Sharafeen water project, the Abs electricity project, and other water and electricity projects.

At the meeting, the Deputy Minister emphasized the commitment to strengthening cooperation with the governorate leadership to implement more water and electricity projects in the governorate to alleviate the suffering of citizens amidst the ongoing repercussions of aggression and blockade. He noted the Ministry's leadership's dedication to meeting the needs of the governorate's districts for water, sanitation, and electricity projects, in accordance with the directives of the Leader of the Revolution, Mr. Abdul-Malik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, and His Excellency Field Marshal Mahdi al-Mashat, President of the Supreme Political Council.

Bader commended the governorate leadership's cooperation and its commitment to overcoming obstacles hindering the progress of electricity and water projects on the ground. He affirmed that the Ministry would exert every effort, in cooperation with relevant government agencies, to target underserved areas within the governorate.

For his part, the Governor of Hajjah expressed his gratitude for the Ministry leadership's efforts and its attention to water and electricity projects in the governorate. He stressed the governorate's lack of water and electricity projects, particularly in underserved areas, and indicated that the governorate leadership would do everything possible to facilitate the work of those supporting various projects.

The directors of the local water and sanitation corporation and the Rural Water Projects Authority reviewed their respective projects and discussed the requirements for improving performance and expanding water services in the most underserved districts. The meeting was attended by Sami Al-Jarbaani, Water Projects Officer at the Direct Aid Society, and Basem Al-Ariqi, Director General of Bilateral Cooperation at the Rural Water Projects Authority.
