Establishment of Pharmaceuticals & Medical Supplies Sector at Sana’a Chamber of Commerce

Sana'a: The Sana'a Chamber of Commerce and Industry convened the founding meeting for the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Supplies Sector. During the meeting, the Deputy Governor for the Investment Sector, Yahya Jamaan, emphasized the importance of creating independent entities for various national industries within the private sector framework. He highlighted the sector's role in the investment field.

According to Yemen News Agency, this initiative is part of the ministry's and local authority's efforts to address the challenges faced by manufacturers. The sector is considered strategically important for supporting the national economy, enhancing local production, and improving quality. Jamaan also noted the sector's significance as a key component of the local market and the governorate's investment system.

Jamaan praised the Chamber of Commerce and Industry for its role in overcoming challenges faced by businesspeople and investors, especially those in the industrial sector. Deputy Chairman of the Chamber's Board, Hashem Al-Suwari, underscored the importance of establishing and activating various industrial sectors, including the pharmaceuticals and medical supplies sector, as vital contributors to the national economy.

Al-Suwari explained that this step reflects an awareness of the strategic importance of national industries within private sector activities. He affirmed the priority of the industrial sector due to its role in reducing the external import bill.

The meeting was attended by significant figures such as the Deputy Director of Legal Affairs at the Ministry of Economy, Amin Al-Jahifi, the Ministry's companies representative Ammar Al-Jarrash, the Director of the Chamber in the governorate Matar Al-Matri, and the Chamber's advisors Ali Mohammed Al-Suwari and Alawi Al-Sharafi. It concluded with the election of Ibrahim Mohammed Al-Hamli as head of the sector, Ali Yahya Kandash as deputy, and Suleiman Abdullah Qaed as rapporteur. The sector encompasses products like detergents, soap, cosmetics, disinfectants, tissues, and diapers.
