Sana'a: European stocks experienced fluctuations on Monday as investors closely monitored developments in the trade landscape, particularly with the looming deadline set by US President Donald Trump for the implementation of tariffs. The financial markets displayed a mixed reaction to the impending trade measures.

According to Yemen News Agency, the pan-European STOXX 600 index remained unchanged at 541.08 points, reflecting investor caution. The region's other major indices showed varied movements, with Germany's DAX increasing by 0.4 percent, France's CAC 40 decreasing by 0.1 percent, Spain's IBEX rising by 0.1 percent, and Britain's FTSE 100 experiencing a 0.2 percent decline.

On Sunday, President Trump announced that the United States was on the brink of finalizing multiple trade agreements, with plans to inform other nations of elevated tariffs on imports by July 9. The new tariffs are set to be enforced starting August 1, heightening concerns among investors regarding potential trade disruptions.

In an additional warning, Trump threatened to impose a further 10 percent tariff on countries adopting the BRICS group's "anti-American" policies. This announcement contributed to the European energy sector's decline of 1.3 percent, in tandem with falling oil prices, while the banking sector saw a 0.6 percent increase.

In corporate news, shares of the French IT services company Capgemini fell by 2.8 percent following its agreement to acquire WNS for $3.3 billion in cash, an acquisition that investors are scrutinizing closely.
