Sana'a: The Eye of Humanity Center for Rights and Development has condemned the recent airstrikes conducted by the Israeli occupation entity on Sana'a International Airport, which resulted in the destruction of the last remaining civilian aircraft of Yemenia Airlines. The attack occurred less than half an hour after the plane had landed, while it was being prepared to transport pilgrims for the Hajj.
According to Yemen News Agency, the Eye of Humanity Center described the airstrike as a continuation of severe violations of international humanitarian law. The incident follows a series of attacks earlier this month, which led to the destruction of three other civilian aircraft and significant damage to the airport's infrastructure, causing an extensive disruption in Yemen's civil aviation operations.
The Center highlighted that the deliberate targeting of civilian aircraft, especially one intended for religious purposes, constitutes a war crime and a blatant violation of international laws that protect the right to movement and religious practices. The attack was carried out in broad daylight, under the observation of the international community.
The Eye of Humanity Center has called upon the United Nations, the Security Council, and international human rights organizations to take full responsibility for their silence regarding these repeated aggressions against Yemeni civilians and infrastructure. The Center urged them to take immediate action to halt the aggression and initiate an independent international investigation into these crimes.
Additionally, the Center has appealed to global civil society organizations and human rights institutions to show solidarity with the Yemeni people against these acts of aggression. It urged the international community to help lift the ongoing siege on Yemen, which has persisted for years.
The Center emphasized that the events at Sana'a International Airport are indicative of the occupation entity's willingness to obstruct Islamic religious practices, reflecting its nature of terrorizing and violating human and religious rights.
