Sana'a: Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Abdul Wahid Abu Ras has addressed the international community, urging action against recent Zionist aggression targeting Yemen's capital, Sana'a, and Jawf Governorate. His letter was dispatched to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the President of the Security Council, and circulated among all UN member states, the European Union, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Yemen.
According to Yemen News Agency, the letter detailed the incidents where the Zionist entity targeted a media institution in a residential neighborhood, a medical fuel station, and a government complex, leading to the death of 46 citizens and injuring 165 others, including journalists, children, and women. The attack also damaged homes and the National Museum in Sana'a, marking a grave violation of international laws and Yemen's sovereignty.
The Deputy Foreign Minister condemned the act as a blatant breach of the United Nations Charter and international humanitarian law, noting its occurrence just two weeks after a previous crime against Yemen's Prime Minister and his entourage. This ongoing aggression poses a dangerous precedent in international relations, he warned.
Abu Ras accused the Zionist entity of attempting to deceive the international community by falsely claiming to target military objectives in Yemen. Since the beginning of its aggression on July 20, 2024, the Zionist entity has consistently attacked civilians and civilian infrastructure, reflecting a pattern of failure and desperation for a false sense of victory.
He affirmed Yemen's commitment to defending itself, as sanctioned by the United Nations Charter and international norms. He called on the international community to acknowledge the threat posed by the Zionist entity, emphasizing its global implications.
The letter also implicated America as a partner in the Zionist entity's crimes in Yemen, citing its ongoing support. Abu Ras urged the United Nations, particularly the Security Council, and the global community to fulfill their moral and legal obligations to halt the Zionist aggression in Gaza, Yemen, and the region. He warned that silence would enable further violations and erode trust in international laws and institutions.
The letter concluded by reiterating Yemen's steadfast support for the Palestinian people and their struggle, emphasizing the need to end the prolonged aggression and siege on Gaza.
