Sana'a: The House of Expertise Center for Studies and Development organized a forum today in Sana'a focusing on the role of diasporas in assessing and strengthening relations between Yemen and Somalia. The event aimed to foster a deeper understanding of how diasporas can contribute to the bilateral relationship, while also analyzing the challenges and opportunities they face. According to Yemen News Agency, the forum gathered academics, experts, and members of African diasporas in Yemen to propose mechanisms that would activate their role in building communication bridges. Dr. Ahmed Al-Imad, Deputy Head of the Center, emphasized the forum's importance in addressing the risks to regional security and stability and the need for robust bonds between the two nations. Dr. Mohammed Jazilan, the Executive Director of the Center, outlined the forum's objectives, which explore historical, humanitarian, and strategic dimensions of the Yemen-Somalia relationship. He remarked that the connection between the two countri es transcends mere geographical proximity, with the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden serving as links for communication and integration. Dr. Abdullah Al-Qadami detailed the Center's efforts in preparing a comprehensive study on the future of Yemen-Somalia relations amid geopolitical changes. He stated that various forums will support the study's preparation and success. Ibrahim Abdul Qader, Head of the Somali diaspora in Sana'a, expressed gratitude towards Yemen's leadership and people for supporting the Somali community. He underscored the need to raise awareness and positions against international conspiracies targeting both Yemen and Somalia. Researcher Mohammed Adam presented a working paper on the Somali diaspora's social, economic, and cultural reality in Yemen. The forum included discussions, interventions, and a questionnaire on the proposed study of the diaspora's role in enhancing bilateral ties, aiming to create a roadmap for sustainable cooperation and strategic opportunity development.
