Sana'a: Governor Abdulbasit Hadi and Secretary-General of the Local Council Abdulqadir Al-Jilani inspected the progress of work at Al-Hatarsh Nursery for agricultural seedling production in Bani Hashish District, following its rehabilitation. The nursery, which spans over eight hectares, is the largest in the governorate and plays a crucial role in producing agricultural seedlings.
According to Yemen News Agency, Hadi and Al-Jilani reviewed the completed work and efforts made to revive the nursery's operations, which included the installation and operation of two water wells powered by solar energy systems. They were briefed by Engineer Ali Al-Qiri, the governorate's agricultural sector official, on the progress in cultivating seedlings of apples, almonds, grapes, carob, and moringa.
The officials highlighted the reclamation of more than 120 plots of land and the establishment of irrigation channels, alongside reactivating greenhouse facilities that had been inactive since 2012 due to the drying up of its water wells. They noted that 20,000 apple seedlings and a significant number of other fruit seedlings, such as ambarella and various types of almonds, have been produced.
Al-Qiri affirmed that the operation of the two artesian wells would boost the nursery's production capacity, allowing for a variety of seedlings, grains, and vegetables. During the visit, Governor Hadi commended the work done in cultivating multiple types of seedlings and urged for increased efforts to optimize the use of the wells for irrigation. He emphasized the importance of utilizing the nursery's agricultural space to benefit the sector.
Hadi also underscored the local authority's commitment to establishing a permanent source for producing diverse seedlings to support all districts and rural areas of the governorate.
