Handover of Al-Hawasla, Al-Gharbi Al-Asfal Water Projects in Jabal Al-Mahwit District

Jabal al-mahwit: The branch of the General Authority for Rural Water Projects in Al-Mahwit Governorate today received the third phase of the Al-Hawasla and Al-Gharbi Al-Asfal water projects in Jabal Al-Mahwit District, funded by the Central Emergency Interventions Unit.



According to Yemen News Agency, the handover follows the completion of supply, installation, and operation of integrated pumping units powered by solar energy by the executing contractor, and their transfer to the local authority in the district and the water users’ associations for the two projects, which are responsible for their management, operation, and maintenance.



The Al-Hawasla project cost 27,212,000 Yemeni riyals and will benefit 3,510 people, while the Al-Gharbi Al-Asfal project cost 19,447,000 riyals and will serve 5,189 residents.



During the handover, the branch director, Engineer Amin Al-Mahwiti, praised the efforts of the Ministry of Electricity, the Rural Water Authority, and the local authority in the governorate in ensuring the success of rural water projects. He also commended the support of the Central Emergency Interventions Unit and the Authority’s leadership for their commitment to implementing projects according to the highest technical quality standards.



Al-Mahwiti noted that all pumping stations in the two projects are now fully operational with solar systems, emphasizing that these projects are part of the Authority’s efforts to enhance the sustainability of rural water projects by relying on solar energy as a sustainable source to operate water stations, ensuring service continuity while reducing operational costs.



He called on stakeholders to maintain and continuously manage the projects to ensure their durability and continued benefit.



Citizens and beneficiaries’ committees expressed their gratitude to the General Authority for Rural Water Projects and the Central Emergency Interventions Unit for their attention to implementing these vital projects, which will help alleviate residents’ suffering and provide clean water sustainably.
