Harvest of Maize Crop Begins in Al-Hujaylah District, Al-Hodeidah

Al-hujaylah: The General Corporation for the Propagation of Improved Seeds, in collaboration with the Al-Hujaylah District Multi-Purpose Agricultural Cooperative Association in Al-Hodeidah Governorate, has commenced the harvest of the maize crop for the agricultural season 1447 AH.



According to Yemen News Agency, the initiative is launched in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, the local authority in the governorate and district, the Agricultural Cooperative Union, and with funding from the Agricultural and Fisheries Projects and Initiatives Financing Unit in Al-Hodeidah Governorate. This collaborative effort aims to boost agricultural productivity and support local farmers.



Engineer Mohammed Al-Qahoum, the Secretary-General of the Agricultural Cooperative Union, stated that the focus on cultivating grains and fodder aligns with the state’s strategic vision to meet local demands. He emphasized that efforts are being made to ensure economic viability and provide rewarding returns for farmers, encouraging them to continue their production activities.



Additionally, Wajih Al-Mutawakkil, the Director of Plant Production, and Shamsan Al-Numairi, the Grain Chain Officer, highlighted that the harvesting operations are part of a well-considered plan to enhance local production rates and achieve self-sufficiency in staple crops.



Hassan Mazra’ah, the Head of the Al-Hujaylah Cooperative Association, shared that the initial outcomes in Tihama areas are promising, attributed to the adoption of modern technologies and selected seeds. This success opens possibilities for expanding the initiative in future seasons.
