Health Interventions Delivered in Kushar, Abs on Occasion of Prophet’s Birthday

Sana'a: Today, the Health Office in Hajjah Governorate received health interventions in the districts of Kushar and Abs, as part of the malnutrition control project at a cost of $195,000, on the occasion of the forthcoming anniversary of the noble Prophet's birthday.

According to Yemen News Agency, the interventions targeted nine health facilities in the districts of Kushar and Abs after their rehabilitation and support, implemented by the Action Against Hunger organization in coordination with relevant humanitarian entities, as part of efforts to care for infrastructure and develop the health sector.

In Kushar District, the interventions covered six facilities, including the completion of construction, rehabilitation, and furnishing of the Nid Khareem and Mughraba Qarhash health units, as well as the rehabilitation and renovation of the Al-Qurayyat Health Center in Al-Abeesa, and the Al-Mudanah, Bani Zaher, and Bani Dawoud health units.

In Abs District, the interventions included the rehabilitation and renovation of the Al-Mutaka and Al-Jar health units and the temporary Sabeel clinic. The project provided an integrated package of equipment and operational services for the targeted facilities, including the provision of essential medicines, therapeutic nutrition supplies, and medical furniture.

The project also included the installation of solar energy systems and air conditioning for pharmacies, maintenance of sewage networks, construction of medical waste incinerators, provision of financial incentives for health workers to ensure the continuity of services, and support for the referral system for critical cases.

During the handover, the Director of the Health Office in the governorate, Dr. Al-Kahlani, praised the efforts of the ministry and governorate leaderships, relevant authorities, and humanitarian partners in advancing the health sector. He emphasized the importance of projects and interventions that serve the community, noting that these projects come within the framework of planned efforts to rehabilitate health facilities, especially in remote and most-needed areas.

Meanwhile, the Director of Evaluation and Monitoring, Engineer Ali Al-Mukhtar, pointed out that the rehabilitation of facilities will have a positive impact in alleviating the suffering of beneficiaries and improving the quality of the health system in Kushar and Abs districts.

For his part, the Director of Health and Nutrition Projects at Action Against Hunger, Dr. Majed Al-Jaafari, explained that the interventions fall within the project "Contributing to the reduction of morbidity and mortality rates associated with acute malnutrition among the most vulnerable groups-children under five and pregnant and lactating women." He expressed appreciation for the interest shown by the governorate and health leaderships, relevant authorities, and the local authorities in Kushar and Abs in facilitating the implementation of emergency humanitarian interventions.

For their part, the residents expressed their great happiness and satisfaction with the sustainable, high-quality projects that address their actual needs and alleviate the hardship of accessing healthcare.
