Hodeida:The National Cancer Control Foundation in the Hodeida governorate is actively conducting an extensive awareness campaign focused on breast cancer prevention and self-examination methods. This initiative is taking place during the globally recognized "Pink October" breast cancer awareness month.
According to Yemen News Agency, Dr. Mohammed Muraysh, the Director of the Foundation's branch in Hodeida, announced that the campaign has reached five schools this week. These schools include Khawla bint al-Azwar Primary and Secondary School, Adhban Primary and Secondary School, Saba Private School, Al-Nahda Al-Haditha School, and Bilqis Primary and Secondary School.
The campaign aims to enhance health awareness among female students by educating them on breast cancer prevention techniques. Activities have included awareness lectures highlighting the significance of early detection and its critical role in increasing recovery chances. The sessions also provided instructions on performing breast self-examinations correctly, tackled common misconceptions about breast cancer, and distributed informational brochures to further reinforce health awareness among students.
Dr. Muraysh noted that the campaign will continue until the beginning of November, with plans to expand its reach to more schools and universities throughout the governorate. The initiative seeks to promote a culture of self-examination and early detection while stressing the importance of consulting a physician if any concerning changes are observed.
The director commended the United Dairy and Food Company (Nana) for sponsoring the campaign and supporting the foundation's awareness-raising efforts. He emphasized the critical role of community partnerships in extending the reach of breast cancer awareness and enhancing the focus on women's health.
