Sanaa: On this day, May 18, the aircraft of the US-Saudi-Emirati aggression launched dozens of airstrikes on several governorates, resulting in the martyrdom and injury of a number of citizens and causing extensive damage to public and private property.
According to Yemen News Agency, the series of incidents over the years have created a pattern of violence and destruction in the region.
On May 18, 2015, an airstrike in Saada Governorate's Allaf district led to the martyrdom of a citizen and the destruction of a truck carrying agricultural produce. Meanwhile, the main road in Baqim Directorate and a bridge in Al-Raqwa were targeted, alongside artillery strikes in Al-Dhahir and Shada Directorates. The Saudi forces launched a barrage of missiles and mortars at various border areas, causing severe damage.
In Aden Governorate, airstrikes hit Al-Tawahi city, and mercenaries targeted Khormaksar and Aden International Airport with heavy artillery. Similar attacks were reported in Hajjah, Shabwah, and Taiz Governorates, with residential neighborhoods and infrastructure coming under fire. In Marib Governorate, Al-Dahlah and other areas were bombarded with mortar shells, rockets, and artillery.
The aggression continued in the following years, with significant incidents on May 18, 2016, where three citizens died in Amran Governorate due to airstrikes. In 2017, an airstrike in Taiz Governorate led to the martyrdom of a citizen, with further destruction caused by naval and aerial attacks.
On May 18, 2018, heavy airstrikes were recorded in Saada and Hajjah Governorates. A year later, in 2019, mercenaries intensified shelling in Al-Hodeida and Saada Governorates, injuring civilians and damaging property.
The violence persisted in 2020, with missile and artillery shelling in Razih, Saada Governorate, and multiple airstrikes in Marib, Al-Jawf, and Hajjah Governorates. In 2021, airstrikes targeted a health center in Saada, while combat fortifications were established by mercenaries in Al-Hodeida and other regions.
By May 18, 2022, reconnaissance aircraft launched airstrikes in Al-Dhalea and Al-Hodeida Governorates, with mercenaries targeting various areas with artillery and gunfire. The aggression continued into 2023, with airstrikes and shelling in Al-Hodeida, emphasizing the ongoing conflict's intensity and impact on Yemen's civilian population.
