Baghdad: Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani has labeled the attack on Qatar as a significant threat to shared national security, calling for immediate deterrent action. In his address at the emergency Arab-Islamic summit, he underscored the need to treat any targeting of Arab and Islamic nations as a collective security threat and warned that unchecked Israeli policies could lead to further instability in the region.
According to Union of OIC News Agencies, the Prime Minister reaffirmed Iraq's strong condemnation of attacks that undermine regional security and stability. He expressed full solidarity with Qatar, the Palestinian people, and all nations facing aggression, including those in Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, and Iran. Al-Sudani emphasized that the assault on Qatar represents a severe escalation and a breach of international law, posing a threat to diplomatic efforts aimed at defusing regional crises.
He highlighted the importance of international and UN bodies, alongside major powers, in taking responsibility to prevent the occupation from undermining the global system. Al-Sudani called for enhanced consultation and coordination among countries to ensure a unified response to threats against sovereignty and security. He advocated for the activation of a joint deterrence system to safeguard regional stability, criticizing occupation authorities for violating international law and expanding regional conflicts deliberately.
