Sana'a: The joint committee from the Presidency and the Public Prosecution inspected today the conditions of prisoners and detainees at the Central Correctional Facility in Sana'a Governorate, the detention centers of the Bani Hushaysh and Arhab Prosecutions, and the police stations under the Southeast Prosecution of the Capital Secretariat, to release as many as possible on the occasion of the anniversary of the noble Prophet's birth for the year 1448 AH.
According to Yemen News Agency, during the field visit, which included the Director General of Prisons and Prisoners Affairs at the Presidency, Jihad Ghathaya, the Heads of the Sana'a Governorate Prosecution, Judge Ali Al-Ansi, and the Southeast Secretariat Prosecution, Judge Ahmed Al-Qayz, the Deputy Prosecutors of Bani Hushaysh and Arhab, Judge Zaid Al-Akwa', and Southeast, Judge Essam Al-Mawri, along with committee members Akram Al-Hababi and Abdullah Al-Wadhaf, and Prisons Committee representative Mohammed Asheesh, the committee reviewed prisoner data and matched it against deposit and detention records.
The committee also reviewed the progress of arrest procedures, the advancement of some prisoner files pending trial and investigation, the expedited handling of their cases in accordance with the law, and the decisions taken regarding them.
The committee approved the release of a number of prisoners in implementation of the directives of the Revolution Leader, Sayyed Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, the President of the Supreme Political Council, and the Public Prosecutor, in accordance with legal controls that reflect the values of tolerance and mercy, and ensure the protection of rights and freedoms on this great occasion.
The committee listened to the prisoners regarding the durations they have spent in detention pending prosecution and court proceedings, as well as detainees held pending inquiries, stressing to those released the importance of seizing the opportunity of the pardon, returning to society as reformed individuals who abide by the law and contribute to serving the nation.
