Moscow: Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov affirmed that Russia is open to the return of Western companies and encourages foreign investments to achieve development and ensure competitiveness. Speaking on the sidelines of the 7th World Economic Forum, in response to a question about whether Russia expects Western companies to return and whether the country needs them, Peskov said: "Certainly. We urgently need that. We must remain open to foreign investment." According to Yemen News Agency, Peskov emphasized the importance of foreign investment in enhancing competition within any economy. He stated, "Any economy should thrive with the maximum flow of foreign investment, as it enhances competition." This reflects Russia's strategic focus on engaging with international markets and securing a stable economic future amid global changes. The 2026 St. Petersburg International Economic Forum is being held this year from June 3 to 6, under the slogan "Pragmatic Dialogue... The Path to a Stable Future," at a time when t he global economy is witnessing rapid transformations and increasing challenges related to growth, development, technology, and the reshaping of economic power centers on the international stage.
