Hodeida: The General Authority for the Care of Martyrs' Families on Wednesday launched economic empowerment projects for 94 families of martyrs and missing persons in the northern districts of Hodeidah Governorate, at Al-Zahrah District, marking the Prophet Muhammad's birthday under the slogan 'Giving and Building.'
According to Yemen News Agency, the projects, costing 89 million rials, will benefit families of martyrs and missing persons in Al-Zahrah, Al-Dhahi, Al-Maghlaf, Al-Qanawis, Al-Zaydiyah, Al-Luhayyah, Al-Munirah, Kamaran, Al-Salif, and associated districts, as part of the Authority's efforts to strengthen economic care for these families and help them achieve productive capacity and livelihood stability.
The empowerment projects include 77 beneficiaries in livestock activities, with 31 involved in sheep raising and 46 in cattle raising. Additionally, there are six beneficiaries in the marine boat sector with engines, five in clothing, two solar power systems, one grocery store project, one pharmacy project, and one motorcycle.
At the launch, Hodeida Undersecretary for Northern Districts Affairs Ghalib Hamza praised the General Authority for the Care of Martyrs' Families for implementing the economic empowerment projects. He described them as a practical expression of loyalty to the families of martyrs and missing persons and a reflection of the attention given to these families.
Hamza commended the Authority's efforts to select projects suited to the areas and the needs of beneficiary families, emphasizing that shifting from direct assistance to establishing income-generating projects strengthens family stability and creates sustainable opportunities to improve their economic conditions.
He highlighted the importance of monitoring the projects after their launch and providing beneficiaries with the necessary guidance and training to ensure proper utilization of the resources provided and achieve the expected returns. He called on beneficiaries to preserve and develop the projects in ways that benefit their families and communities.
Province Undersecretary of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources Ali Qadhi stressed the importance of empowerment projects in agriculture, livestock, and related activities, praising the Authority's efforts to direct part of its programs toward productive projects that support families and provide income sources linked to the local economy.
Meanwhile, Director of the General Authority for the Care of Martyrs' Families branch in Hodeidah Ali Al-Shaathami explained that the launch of these projects is part of a practical approach adopted by the Authority to develop care programs for the families of martyrs and missing persons by providing productive projects tailored to the families' capabilities and local communities.
He said the diversity of projects across livestock, marine activities, and commercial and service ventures reflects the Authority's commitment to directing empowerment initiatives according to beneficiaries' needs, thus achieving sustainable economic returns and enhancing families' ability to manage and develop their projects.
