The capital: The Mayor of the Capital, Dr. Hammoud Obbad, today reviewed the progress of infrastructure projects in Ma’in District, focusing on the construction of a concrete surface bridge at Al-Suneina neighborhood’s main entrance and the rehabilitation of streets in the Hail Square area. These initiatives, funded by the local authority, have a combined cost of 220 million riyals.

According to Yemen News Agency, Dr. Obbad was joined by Engineer Abdulkarim Al-Houthi, Undersecretary of the Works and Projects Sector, and District Director Abdulmalik Al-Radi. They assessed the concrete foundation work at the Al-Suneina entrance, which spans 3,150 square meters from the intersection with 60th Street. They also evaluated the rehabilitation and maintenance of main and secondary streets in Hail Square, covering 10,000 square meters. Project Director Engineer Bilal Al-Imad briefed them on the work being carried out by the Executive Unit for Construction, Maintenance, and Development of Roads and Public Places.

Dr. Obbad emphasized that these inspections are part of the ongoing efforts by the Executive Unit to implement projects across the Capital Secretariat. The concrete surface bridge aims to address water flow issues at Al-Suneina’s entrance, ensuring sustainability and reducing the risk of collapse due to rainwater.

He stated that these projects reflect the directives of the Leader of the Revolution and the President of the Supreme Political Council to enhance basic services, rehabilitate infrastructure, and implement sustainable initiatives in the Capital Secretariat.

Engineer Al-Houthi highlighted the significance of the surface bridge project, which is expected to mitigate flood damage and enhance the project’s durability. He noted that the Executive Unit is actively working on a series of sustainable projects with support from technical and engineering teams.

In addition to infrastructure projects, Dr. Obbad, Al-Houthi, and Assistant Sharaf al-Din inspected preparations for an alternative market for street vendors on Hail Street. Abdulmalik Al-Radi explained the efforts to organize markets and reduce slum areas, aiming to preserve livelihoods and serve the public interest.

Al-Radi announced that the Al-Rahman Market for hawkers and street vendors would open next week, as part of a district-led initiative to address slum proliferation and reduce street congestion by creating organized markets.
