Sana'a: The Prisons Committee, Sana'a Health Office, and the Preventive and Curative Medicine Department of the Ministry of Interior today launched a range of humanitarian and service activities at prisons and detention centers in the capital.
According to Yemen News Agency, the activities include medical camps, distribution of copies of the Holy Quran and cultural materials, prison cleaning and disinfection campaigns, and the provision of hygiene supplies at detention and holding centers across Sana'a.
Chairman of the Prisons Committee Fahd Ghathaya stated that the activities are being held to mark the Prophet Muhammad's birthday and reflect efforts to improve conditions for prisoners and detainees and provide them with medical and health care. He highlighted the importance of these initiatives in promoting charitable work and continuing efforts to release eligible prisoners, in accordance with legal procedures, to alleviate their suffering.
Director of the Sana'a Health Office Dr. Mutahar Al-Marouni noted that the medical camps offer medical examinations, consultations, and medicines for detainees and prisoners as part of the Prophet's Birthday activities under the slogan 'Merciful to One Another.'
Sana'a Security Director Major General Muammar Harash commended the humanitarian initiative, emphasizing its role in supporting and raising awareness among detainees and prisoners.
Deputy Prosecutor for Security and Investigations Ali Abu Talib remarked that the initiative demonstrates the shared responsibility of the Prisons Committee, preventive medicine authorities, and other relevant bodies in providing necessary services and strengthening judicial and humanitarian oversight of prisoners' conditions.
Colonel Akram Al-Madani, Director of the Preventive and Curative Medicine Department, mentioned that the distribution of medical and cultural materials and the launch of activities at the Criminal Investigation Department would extend to other detention centers across the capital, aiming to provide health care and promote cultural awareness among prisoners.
The launch event saw the attendance of Prisons Committee member Gameel Ghathaya and several security officers from the Criminal Investigation Department.
