Sana'a: A meeting in Sana'a, chaired on Sunday by Acting Minister of Economy, Industry and Investment Sam Al-Bashiri, discussed the conditions of the ministry's offices in the capital and provinces, as well as field market monitoring activities.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting, held via video conference, reviewed food supply and price indicators in local markets. It also examined the role of ministry offices in implementing the decision to increase flour extraction rates, promoting changes in bread consumption patterns, and studying bread prices of all types across the provinces.
Al-Bashiri emphasized the need to strengthen field monitoring mechanisms to ensure market stability, warning against any abusive practices or extortion of traders during inspections. He also urged avoiding the closure of any establishment while safeguarding consumer rights.
He asserted that the ministry would not permit increases in the prices of food and essential commodities except where justified and through procedures approved by the ministry. Al-Bashiri instructed ministry office managers to monitor medium- and small-scale mills to ensure compliance with the decision to increase flour extraction rates, citing its potential health benefits for consumers and positive impact on the national economy.
