Sana'a: A meeting held on Thursday at Ibb University, attended by the Deputy Minister of Education and Scientific Research for the Higher Education Sector, Dr. Ibrahim Luqman, and the University President, Dr. Nasr Al-Hajili, discussed the level of academic and educational performance at the university.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting, which was also attended by the Chairman of the Academic Accreditation Council, Dr. Adel Al-Matari, the Minister's Advisor Mahmoud Al-Salwi, and the university's vice presidents, addressed ways to improve academic and educational performance in line with quality standards and accreditation requirements, alongside expanding the introduction of specialized programs across various faculties.
With the participation of a number of academic and administrative leaders, the meeting reviewed the university's achievements in infrastructure, laboratory equipment, and the development of academic education both theoretically and practically, as well as strengthening adherence to the unified academic calendar.
Participants also discussed the steps taken by the university to update academic programs. The Faculty of Computer and Applied Sciences has introduced new programs in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity and upgraded computer-related specializations. Meanwhile, the Faculty of Engineering has launched a new interior design program and updated its computer and communications programs. The university has also expanded postgraduate programs (Master's and PhD) to meet labor market needs and development requirements.
During the meeting, Dr. Luqman praised the efforts made by Ibb University in developing its academic and research infrastructure, affirming the ministry's support for modernization and development projects implemented by the university in various fields.
He emphasized the importance of adhering to academic accreditation standards across all programs and disciplines, given their role in improving the quality of higher education and enhancing public confidence in university outcomes.
For his part, the President of Ibb University affirmed that the university is moving forward with well-planned steps to achieve academic accreditation by developing programs and specializations in accordance with comprehensive quality standards. He noted that this approach reflects the university's commitment to improving its educational outcomes and aligning them with community needs.
He added that expanding modern programs, especially in artificial intelligence and advanced technologies, is part of the university's strategy to keep pace with global developments and enhance students' scientific and practical capabilities, contributing to the preparation of qualified and competitive graduates.
Following the meeting, the Deputy Minister and the University President inspected the progress of finishing, rehabilitation, and furnishing projects for laboratory wings and classrooms at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, as well as the modern equipment provided in line with academic accreditation requirements.
The attendees stressed the importance of continuing efforts to develop the educational environment and enhance academic performance quality, contributing to achieving the university's aspirations for institutional excellence and academic leadership.
