Sanaa: A meeting held today in Sanaa, chaired by member of the Supreme Political Council Mohammed Al-Nuaimi, discussed the needs of the Yemeni Authority for Standardization, Metrology and Quality Control related to developing infrastructure and technical laboratories.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting, which included the Executive Director of the Authority Abdullah Al-Atifi and the head of the General Authority for Lands, Survey and Urban Planning Judge Ibrahim Al-Mansour, reviewed the authority's plans and programs and the most prominent developmental needs for infrastructure, as well as enhancing its capabilities in the fields of inspection and control of local and imported goods and products.
The member of the Supreme Political Council praised the authority's role in protecting the national economy and ensuring the safety and quality of goods, stressing the importance of supporting it and enabling it to perform its vital tasks. He emphasized the necessity of equipping laboratories with modern and advanced testing equipment, especially for local products such as coffee and honey, contributing to enhancing the quality of the national product and opening wider horizons for its marketing.
For his part, the director of the Yemeni Authority for Standardization, Metrology and Quality Control affirmed that developing and equipping the authority's laboratories is a pivotal step to enhance the quality of the national product and support the directions for localizing industries, contributing to consumer protection and raising the level of confidence in local products. He pointed out that the authority is working within plans to update and develop central laboratories to keep pace with the requirements of regulatory and technical work according to approved standard specifications.
Meanwhile, the head of the General Authority for Lands, Survey and Urban Planning pointed to the importance of supporting the Yemeni Authority for Standardization, Metrology and Quality Control, as it is one of the active institutions that continues to perform its tasks efficiently despite challenges. He affirmed the necessity of providing suitable land for the establishment of the authority's infrastructure projects, allowing for future expansion and enhancing its technical and laboratory capabilities.
The meeting was attended by the deputy directors of the Yemeni Authority for Standardization, Metrology and Quality Control, Engineer Mohammed Al-Daylami and Dr. Kamal Margham, and a number of directors of specialized departments at the authority.
After the meeting, Al-Nuaimi, Al-Atifi, and Al-Mansour inspected the level of equipment and development needs in a number of the authority's laboratories, and listened to an explanation about the most prominent challenges, foremost among them the lack of space and the unsuitability of some buildings for expansion. They affirmed the importance of developing infrastructure and providing modern equipment to enhance the authority's regulatory and technical performance.
