Sana'a: The National Center of Meteorology and Early Warning has issued a forecast predicting thunderstorms of varying intensity and scattered distribution across several governorates, along with strong winds affecting the western coast, Bab al-Mandab, and the western Gulf of Aden in the coming 24 hours.
According to Yemen News Agency, the weather bulletin from the center indicates expectations of thunderstorms of varying intensity over the governorates of Sa'ada, Amran, Dhamar, Raymah, Ibb, Al-Dhalea, and the highlands of Lahj and Abyan. The thunderstorms are anticipated to extend to the plateaus and deserts of Hadramout and Al-Mahrah governorates.
Scattered thunderstorms are likely in regions including Al-Jawf, southern Marib, Sana'a, Hajjah, Al-Mahwit, Taiz, Al-Bayda, and Shabwah, as well as parts of the eastern, southern, and western coasts and adjacent areas. The forecast also highlights strong winds on the western coast, Bab al-Mandab, and the western Gulf of Aden, with speeds projected between 15-30 knots.
Yesterday, the country experienced moderate to heavy thunderstorms across most governorates. The center has issued warnings to citizens in areas anticipated to receive rainfall about the potential for flash floods in valleys and ravines, advising against being in or crossing these areas during and after rainfall.
Additionally, drivers have been cautioned about reduced horizontal visibility on roads and mountainous slopes due to dense low clouds or fog and are advised to avoid crossing low bridges during flood flows. The center also alerts sea-goers, fishermen, and ship captains of rough seas and high waves that could exceed three meters.
