Muscat: The National Center of Meteorology and Early Warning: The National Center of Meteorology and Early Warning expects continued scattered and varying-intensity thunderstorms over parts of several governorates during the next 24 hours.
According to Yemen News Agency, the weather bulletin issued by the center indicates that varying-intensity thunderstorms, occasionally accompanied by hail and downdraft winds, are expected over parts of the governorates of Al-Bayda, Al-Dhalea, Taiz, Ibb, Dhamar, Al-Mahwit, Hajjah, Amran, and Saada, as well as the highlands of Lahj and Abyan.
Scattered rainfall, occasionally accompanied by thunder, may occur over parts of Sana'a and Raymah governorates, the deserts and highlands of Al-Jawf, Marib, Shabwah, Hadramout, and Al-Mahrah, as well as parts of the Tihama Plain and the western and southern coasts.
The center warned citizens of the sudden flow of flash floods in ravines and valleys, and of being present in their paths or attempting to cross them during and after rainfall.
It also warned of thunderstorms and downdraft winds and advised avoiding being in elevated areas and near tall trees, and not using mobile phones or leaving electrical power connected during thunderstorms.
It also warned of reduced horizontal visibility, rockfalls, and mudslides on roads and mountain slopes and coastal plains due to rainfall and the formation of fog.
The center called on the relevant authorities to take appropriate measures to preserve lives and property.
