Sana’a: The National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning has forecasted that several desert areas, western mountainous highlands, and inland plateaus will experience a wave of widespread dust and cold conditions over the next 24 hours.
According to Yemen News Agency, the center’s weather bulletin highlighted that satellite images, surface observation data, and numerical models are pointing to noticeable activity of northern and northeastern surface winds. These conditions have led to the formation of widespread dust in the Empty Quarter deserts.
Desert areas including Al-Mahrah, Hadramout, Shabwah, Ma’rib, and Al-Jawf governorates are anticipated to be affected by a moderately intense wave of widespread dust beginning at dawn tomorrow.
The center indicated that the dust wave could potentially extend to parts of the western mountainous highlands and inland plateaus, bringing a noticeable drop in temperatures. This will result in generally cold weather during the night and early morning.
The center has issued warnings to citizens, particularly the elderly, the sick, and children, advising against direct exposure to dust to safeguard their health. Vehicle drivers are also cautioned to remain vigilant due to reduced horizontal visibility.
Additionally, the center has warned of cold conditions in the mentioned areas and has urged farmers to take measures to protect their crops from the effects of the cold.
