Sana'a: The head of the national negotiating delegation, Mohammed Abdul Salam, reaffirmed on Tuesday that the national delegation is actively engaging with regional and international parties to convey Yemen's stance on the ongoing developments in the region. This comes in the wake of the aggression faced by the Yemeni people.
According to Yemen News Agency, Abdul Salam stated that the operations conducted by Yemeni armed forces against Saudi ships and troop buildups are part of a legitimate response to the attacks endured by the Yemeni people, particularly highlighting the brutal assault on Sana'a Airport on July 13, 2026. He emphasized that Sana'a has maintained a truce and de-escalation efforts for four years and has not initiated any aggression against Saudi Arabia. However, he accused Saudi Arabia of using the truce to escalate economic and humanitarian challenges aimed at wearing down the Yemeni populace.
Abdul Salam highlighted the intensified blockade by Saudi Arabia, which involves arbitrary inspection procedures on ships arriving at the port of Hodeidah, resulting in prolonged delays. He further noted that decisions targeting banks, money exchangers, and merchants have worsened the humanitarian crisis, leading to soaring prices that have severely impacted the Yemeni citizens' livelihoods.
He asserted that dialogue and negotiation have always been open from Yemen's side, accusing Saudi Arabia of rejecting these avenues. Abdul Salam claimed that Saudi Arabia's recent declarations contradict their purported support for peaceful solutions, suggesting that their actions are intended to advance military preparations that could plunge Yemen into chaos and conflict. He assured that Yemen's armed forces remain committed to defending the country's sovereignty, independence, and dignity, as well as securing the full rights of its people.
In light of ongoing regional and international communications, Abdul Salam stressed that any future agreements must focus on achieving the legitimate rights of the Yemeni people. Key priorities include addressing humanitarian issues, such as reopening airports and ports, disbursing salaries, resuming oil and gas exports, and ensuring that these resources benefit the Yemeni populace, as outlined in the roadmap.
