National Human Rights Authority Condemns Saudi Attacks on Border Village in Sa’ada

General

Sa'ada: The National Human Rights Authority strongly condemned on Saturday the Saudi attacks targeting a border village in Sa'ada Governorate.

According to Yemen News Agency, the authority stated that the repeated and systematic targeting of civilian-populated villages and areas along the border constitutes a blatant violation of international humanitarian law, particularly the Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949 and its Additional Protocols, which prohibit attacks on civilians and civilian objects.

The statement described the attack as a war crime, saying it terrorized civilians and exposed women, children, and the elderly to death and injury, while damaging their property. It said the attacks reflect a continuing policy of collective punishment against Yemenis in border areas, in clear violation of international conventions and norms.

The authority held Saudi Arabia fully legally and humanely responsible for the attack and other violations against Yemeni civilians, calling on the international community, the UN Security Council, and the United Nations to condemn such crimes, immediately halt the attacks, and lift the blockade on Yemen.

It also urged international human rights and humanitarian organizations to document these violations and press for accountability for those responsible.
