Sana'a: Competitions in the 'Rasul Al-Azam' football tournament continued on Monday in several districts of Sana'a Governorate. The tournament is organized by the Office of Youth, Sports and the Youth Unit of the General Mobilization to mark the Prophet Muhammad's birthday.
According to Yemen News Agency, in Nihm District, the tournament opened with the participation of eight school teams. In the opening match, Imam Zaid team defeated Al-Fawz School team 3-0. Nihm's Youth and Sports Office Director Nayef Al-Farji mentioned that the tournament is part of activities aimed at developing sports talents among students and youth, fostering competition and brotherhood, and channeling their energies into educational, cultural, and sporting activities held in conjunction with the religious occasion.
In Bani Dhabyan District, the tournament also kicked off with eight school teams participating. Martyr Mohammed Al-Dhaif team defeated Martyr Al-Ghamari team 2-0 in the opening match. Youth and Sports Office Director Zain Al-Abdeen Al-Taheri emphasized the importance of organizing sports and cultural activities on the occasion to strengthen the close bond with the Prophet Muhammad.
Meanwhile, the tournament concluded in Saafan District, where Al-Muhajireen team won the title after defeating Al-Noor Al-Muhammadi 3-2 in the final. The tournament featured fair competition among the participating teams, reflecting values of brotherhood, love, and emulation of the Prophet's noble character. At the closing ceremony, awards were presented to the best player, goalkeeper, top scorer, and best defender. Al-Noor Al-Muhammadi team received silver medals for finishing second, while Al-Muhajireen team received gold medals and the tournament trophy.
