Sana'a: Capital Sana'a mayor Dr. Hamoud Ubad launched the 12/12 Cleanliness and Community Awareness Campaign across all districts of the Capital Sana'a under the slogan 'Cleanliness of Sana'a is a Religious Duty and a Civilized Behavior.' Speaking at the launch event in Bab al-Yemen, Ubad stated that the campaign continues previous initiatives aimed at improving services and preserving the capital's appearance. He emphasized the shared responsibility of citizens in maintaining cleanliness in their streets and neighborhoods.
According to Yemen News Agency, Ubad highlighted the significance of launching the campaign from the historic Bab al-Yemen. The initiative includes the rehabilitation and planting of central islands. Ubad acknowledged the contributions of sanitation workers, media outlets, civil society organizations, and environmental activists in spreading environmental awareness.
Hamoud al-Naqeeb, head of the Social Affairs Committee at the local council, noted that the campaign concludes a year of joint cleanliness efforts, aiming to establish cleanliness as a collective social behavior. Officials from the Cleaning Fund and Project mentioned that the campaign will utilize 300 sanitation vehicles and equipment across districts, encouraging citizen participation.
The launch event was attended by several local officials, district directors, social figures, environmental awareness teams, and citizens.
