Taiz Officials Advocate for Expansion of Grain and Legume Cultivation to Enhance Food Security

Taiz: A high-level meeting in Taiz governorate, attended by Agriculture Minister Dr. Radwan al-Rubai and Acting Governor Ahmed al-Masawa, discussed on Monday strategies to expand grain and legume cultivation.

According to Yemen News Agency, the initiative aims to reduce import dependence and achieve food self-sufficiency, aligning with national directives.

Minister al-Rubai emphasized the need to intensify efforts, promote sustainable agricultural practices, and localize the production of agricultural inputs to lower costs.

The Minister also stressed replacing imported goods with local alternatives and improving farmer support through data collection and field guidance.

Acting Governor al-Masawa highlighted a "qualitative leap" in Taiz's agricultural development, noting the formation of 10 new agricultural cooperatives, and affirmed commitment to advancing agricultural projects.
