Tehama Organization Highlights Aggression Crimes in Hodeidah Over 11 Years at Press Conference

Hodeidah: The Tehama Organization for Human Rights, Development, and Heritage held its annual press conference on Saturday in Hodeidah to review the crimes and damages caused by the Saudi-American-Zionist-Emirati aggression on the governorate, under the slogan 'Eleven Years of Aggression and Siege.' According to Yemen News Agency, the conference, attended by Governor Abdullah Atifi, First Deputy Governor Ahmed Al-Bashri, Deputy Governors for Services Mohammed Hleisi and for Culture and Media Ali Qashr, and Hodeidah University President Dr. Mohammed Al-Ahdal, presented a comprehensive human rights report detailing the humanitarian catastrophe, the targeting of infrastructure and productive sectors documented as a result of the aggression. Tehama Organization President Amjad Al-Amisi reviewed the crimes, violations, and damages inflicted on Hodeidah over 11 years of aggression, stressing that the governorate was among the most affected due to direct targeting of infrastructure, service and economic facilities , productive sectors, as well as crimes against civilians, fishermen, and displaced persons. The report noted that the aggression coalition targeted Hodeidah, Al-Salif, and Ras Issa ports with over 80 direct airstrikes since 26 March 2015, resulting in the destruction of ten ports and fishing centers, and the complete destruction of more than seven marine cranes used for unloading food and medical supplies. It stated that these strikes repeatedly disrupted maritime navigation, with forced port closures exceeding 1,900 days, in addition to targeting oil tankers and petroleum derivatives in more than 20 documented crimes, the latest being an attack on a fuel tanker off Ras Issa port, causing a major environmental and humanitarian disaster. The report emphasized that fishermen were directly targeted, with over 740 killed due to attacks on their boats by coalition aircraft and warships, and more than 115 injured, sustaining permanent disabilities. A total of 452 fishing boats were destroyed, over 645 partially damaged, and 1,200 fishermen were detained, tortured, and imprisoned for years without charge. The massacre on Akban Island on 15 July 2017 was cited as one of the most brutal crimes, claiming the lives of more than 200 fishermen in a single day. According to the report, civilian casualties in Hodeidah reached 2,675, including 501 children, 243 women, and 1,931 men, while the number of injured reached 3,996, including 818 children, 402 women, and 2,776 men, bringing the total of civilian victims to 6,671, the majority being women and children. Displacement affected 804,461 people forced to leave their homes and villages in several districts due to systematic targeting, while over 20 displacement camps suffered fires and violations, particularly in Al-Khokha and Hays districts. The report highlighted widespread destruction of houses, facilities, and infrastructure, with 76,751 houses damaged or destroyed, 2,322 roads and bridges, 1,034 water tanks and networks, 145 fuel stations, power generators, 10 ports , 2 airports, 423 mosques including historic ones, 236 schools and educational centers. It stated that 3,650 schools and educational centers had stopped operating due to targeted attacks and airstrikes, while 13 university facilities and scientific academies were also destroyed. Additionally, 49 hospitals and health facilities, 12 media, broadcasting institutions, and 56 communication networks and stations were targeted. In terms of productive and economic sectors, the report indicated that the aggression targeted 310 government facilities, 245 food warehouses, 53 markets, 212 fuel tankers, 2,184 transport vehicles for citizens, travelers, and patients, 144 fuel stations, 28 archaeological sites, 124 tourist facilities, 109 factories, 22 sports facilities, 11 grain silos, 3,884 agricultural fields, 97 poultry, livestock farms, 4,055 commercial facilities, and 457 food trucks. The organization held the United States, the Zionist entity, and their Saudi and Emirati allies fully responsible for these brutal c rimes and violations, calling on the international community and the Human Rights Council to break their silence, form an independent international investigation committee, lift the unjust siege, reopen ports without restrictions, and prosecute the leaders of the aggression for war crimes that do not expire.
