Sana'a: Acting Prime Minister Allama Mohammed Muftah, during his visit on Monday to the General Directorate of Traffic Police, accompanied by Deputy Minister of Interior Major General Abdulmajeed Al-Murtada, and Undersecretary of the Security and Police Sector Major General Ahmed Jaafar, reviewed the level of traffic performance as well as development plans and programs aimed at enhancing road safety and serving citizens.
According to Yemen News Agency, they were received by Director General of Traffic Police Major General Dr. Bakil Al-Barashi, his deputy and assistants, the directors of traffic in the Capital Secretariat, Sana'a Governorate, and a number of traffic leaders. During the visit, the Acting Prime Minister launched the traffic plan for the holy month of Ramadan 1447 AH, aimed at organizing traffic flow, reducing congestion, accidents, and facilitating citizens' movement during the holy month.
Allama Muftah and his accompanying delegation also met with traffic control leaders and personnel, toured a symbolic display of traffic vehicles and patrol units, and listened to a briefing on field efforts, challenges facing traffic work, and ways to address them. The Acting Prime Minister delivered a directive speech urging traffic police leaders and personnel to double their efforts, demonstrate responsibility, discipline, and strengthen values of good conduct in dealing with citizens, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.
He stressed the importance of the humanitarian role carried out by the Traffic Police, praising the efforts of highway traffic units and the services they provide to citizens on long inter-governorate roads, contributing to the protection of lives and property. During the visit, the Acting Prime Minister inaugurated the tailoring and traffic supplies workshop, equipped with modern sewing machines that will be used to produce official uniforms for traffic police personnel, helping improve their appearance, enhance discipline, and reduce expenses.
They also inaugurated the technical unit affiliated with the Production and Equipment Department, which has been equipped with the latest printers and modern technical machines to produce and print traffic signs, stamps, booklets, and awareness brochures, as part of efforts to strengthen traffic awareness and promote road safety culture in society.
Allama Muftah, Major General Al-Murtada, and Major General Jaafar also visited Al-Wahda Police Station in Shu'ub District, which was equipped and rehabilitated by the Security and Police Sector represented by the Traffic Police to serve as a model station for the community in the Capital Secretariat and enhance the level of security services provided.
The Acting Prime Minister explained that what he witnessed today in terms of discipline and field readiness among the leadership and personnel of the Traffic Police reflects a high sense of responsibility and dedication to duty, affirming that the Traffic Police represent the first line of defense in protecting citizens' lives and ensuring their safety on the roads.
He noted that the significant efforts made by the Traffic Police, whether in regulating movement within cities or along long roads connecting governorates, represent a noble humanitarian and security task worthy of appreciation for its direct impact in easing citizens' hardships and reducing traffic accidents. Allama Muftah affirmed that the launch of the Ramadan traffic plan and the inauguration of production and equipment facilities reflect a practical approach toward relying on local capabilities, developing institutional work, and improving the level of traffic services in a way that enhances public confidence in security agencies.
He stressed the need to continue this approach, work as one team, and adhere to ethical and professional values in dealing with citizens, noting that the success of traffic work should be measured by the extent to which it serves people and preserves their dignity above all else. For his part, Deputy Minister of Interior Major General Al-Murtada emphasized the importance of improving traffic performance, developing infrastructure and various equipment in line with current needs, enhancing road safety, and stressing adherence to the law and civil conduct with citizens.
Meanwhile, Director General of Traffic Police Major General Dr. Bakil Al-Barashi praised the attention given by the state leadership and the Ministry of Interior in supporting the Traffic Police and highway traffic units. He affirmed that the projects inaugurated and the prepared plans will contribute to improving traffic performance, strengthening traffic awareness, and upgrading the level of services provided to citizens.
