Yemeni Parliament Sends Condemnation Messages Over Trump Administration’s Actions Against Yemen

Sanaa: The Yemeni House of Representatives has initiated a global outreach, sending messages to the heads of parliaments and legislative councils across various nations. These messages condemn the alleged crimes committed by the Trump administration against the Yemeni people and their resources.

According to Yemen News Agency, the messages were directed to prominent figures, including the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the President of the Arab Parliamentary Union, and the Secretary-General of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States, among others. The communications detailed what the Yemeni House describes as ongoing American aggression in Yemen, highlighting violations of international and humanitarian law.

The Yemeni Parliament's letters criticized the Trump administration for targeting civilians, markets, residential areas, and infrastructure in Yemen, labeling these actions as crimes against humanity. They stressed that these acts violate the United Nations Charter and other international conventions.

Additionally, the messages drew parallels between U.S. actions in Yemen and its support for Israel, accusing the Trump administration of backing Israeli actions against Palestinians in Gaza. The Yemeni House dismissed Trump's claims about securing international navigation in the Red Sea as misinformation intended to justify actions against Yemen.

The House reaffirmed Yemen's commitment to maintaining safe maritime navigation in its waters, aligning with international law, except for vessels associated with occupied Palestinian ports. This stance is positioned as a response to ongoing Israeli actions and their impact on Palestinian humanitarian conditions.

Furthermore, the letters emphasized that Yemen's support for Palestine aligns with its sovereign rights and obligations to defend against war crimes. They hold the Trump administration accountable for the damages inflicted on Yemen, urging for compensation and redress.

The communication called on the IPU and international parliamentary bodies to enforce rulings by the International Criminal Court against those deemed responsible for war crimes, and to support the ICC's efforts free from external pressures.

The Yemeni Parliament urged international collective action to challenge U.S. policies perceived as hegemonic and to advocate for Palestinian rights, demanding an end to the Israeli occupation and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

International parliaments were encouraged to take firm stances against what Yemen perceives as double standards in international law applications, and to confront policies that threaten global peace and security.
