Zakat Authority Launches Project to Support Orphan Care Homes on National Orphan Day

Sana'a: The General Authority of Zakat and the General Directorate of the Orphan Care Home in the Capital Secretariat organized a celebratory event on the occasion of National Orphan Day and inaugurated a project to support orphan care homes, funded by the Zakat Authority with a total cost of 50 million riyals. This initiative embodies the divine verse: 'And they give food, in spite of love for it, to the needy, the orphan, and the captive.'

According to Yemen News Agency, the event was attended by Adviser to the Chairman of the Supreme Political Council, Ambassador Abdelilah Hajar. Sheikh Shamsan Abu Nashtan, Chairman of the General Authority of Zakat, emphasized the importance of including orphans in celebrations, addressing their needs, and bringing joy to their lives. He highlighted the commitment of the Zakat Authority and the Orphan Care Home in the Capital Secretariat to launch the 50-million-riyal support project, noting that the Authority also provides clothing for all orphans in this home and other orphan care homes.

Sheikh Abu Nashtan stated, 'The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family) was a guiding light and a model school for all orphans,' praising the efforts of orphanage staff in providing care, kindness, and support for this important segment, reflecting the spirit of generosity, humanity, and the principles of Islam. He added that it is the duty of all organizations and concerned parties to sincerely attend to orphans in care homes in the Capital Secretariat and the governorates, in line with the directives of the revolutionary and political leadership.

For his part, Dr. Ahmed Al-Khazan, Director General of the Orphan Care Home in the Capital Secretariat, stressed the importance of commemorating National Orphan Day to raise awareness about the hardships faced by orphans and to ensure their voices are heard, as they are entitled to care and attention. He described serving and caring for orphans as an act of worship, noting that orphans require care, compassion, education, clothing, food, and other basic life necessities. He emphasized that orphan care homes in the Capital Secretariat and governorates serve as safe havens for all orphans.

Al-Khazan pointed out that orphans face difficult circumstances, but through their faith and following the example of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family), they can transform hardship into sincere spiritual growth. He praised the Zakat Authority for supporting the orphanage and caring for orphans through its projects, including providing 50 million riyals each quarter, alongside contributions from the Endowment Authority and benefactors, calling on everyone to embrace solidarity, compassion, and generosity toward orphans.
