8.5 Billion Riyals Allocated for Road and Bridge Projects Across Yemen in 2025

Sana'a: The General Authority for Roads and Bridges successfully implemented a series of infrastructure projects throughout 2025, with a comprehensive budget surpassing 8.5 billion riyals. The projects spanned across 14 provinces, focusing on 50 road developments and 18 bridge and construction projects.

According to Yemen News Agency, the General Project Management Department played a pivotal role, executing 50 road projects costing approximately 6.8 billion riyals. Concurrently, the General Bridge and Construction Management Department managed 18 additional projects, exceeding 1.7 billion riyals in expenditure. Cumulatively, the total investment, including maintenance works, approached 20 billion riyals.

A detailed report from the Projects Management Department highlighted that 14 crucial projects were completed in Al-Hodeidah province. This included major undertakings such as asphalting critical road sections, flood protection works, and the construction of axle weighing stations. Local authorities funded several of these initiatives, emphasizing infrastructure enhancements like the Al-Qanawis - Al-Mughallaf - Al-Kadan road project.

The province of Sa'dah saw the execution of nine projects, with significant efforts directed towards road paving and widening, alongside essential maintenance activities. Meanwhile, in Taiz province, key road asphalting projects were carried out to enhance connectivity and transport efficiency.

Dhamar province's initiatives included dual carriageway expansions, market restorations, and infrastructure developments funded through various local and national sources. Marib and Al-Jawf provinces also benefited from comprehensive road cutting and asphalting projects, aimed at improving regional accessibility.

In other provinces like Ibb, Al-Bayda, and Sana'a, the Authority undertook diverse rehabilitation and construction projects. These ranged from road expansions to the installation of critical safety features, addressing both immediate and long-term infrastructure needs.

Additionally, the Authority prioritized aesthetic improvements and traffic safety measures in the Capital Secretariat, investing in traffic management systems and road marking enhancements. This effort was supported by the local authority, ensuring safer and more efficient urban environments.

The Authority's focus extended to equipment procurement, acquiring 15 new machinery pieces to bolster project execution capabilities. The General Bridge Management Department also executed significant bridge projects, enhancing transportation infrastructure across various provinces.

According to the annual report from the Bridges and Constructions Management Department, developmental projects worth over 43 million riyals were realized in 2025. The department focused on enhancing infrastructure capabilities and conducted training sessions to elevate engineering expertise within the workforce.

In alignment with modernizing efforts, the Authority embarked on a digital transformation journey, achieving 76% completion towards an integrated technological framework. This initiative marks a significant stride towards enhancing the operational efficiency of project management activities.

The Authority's commitment to human resource development was evident through 26 training courses conducted throughout the year, covering diverse areas such as project management, health and safety, and technology systems.
