Sana'a: The Council of Ministers, in its regular meeting chaired by Acting Prime Minister Allamah Mohammed Miftah, approved the government's annual plan for the year 1448 AH and instructed all ministries to implement its provisions according to their respective responsibilities. The meeting began with verses from the Holy Quran, followed by listening to an excerpt from Imam Ali's letter to Malik al-Ashtar.
According to Yemen News Agency, the Council directed all ministries to submit their proposed annual programs for the current year to be included in the Cabinet's work plan. It also discussed the national strategy for the mining sector, presented by the Minister of Oil and Minerals Dr. Abdullah Al-Amir, which aims to develop the mining sector and enhance its vital role in supporting the national economy through optimal investment in promising and diverse opportunities within this important sector. Following deliberations, the Council approved the strategy and praised the efforts made in its preparation.
The Council also approved the strategic plan of the Yemen Standards, Metrology and Quality Control Organization, submitted by Acting Minister of Economy, Industry and Investment Sam Al-Bashiri. The plan aims to strengthen and develop the authority's infrastructure, improve institutional performance efficiency, keep pace with technical and environmental developments, enhance product trust and safety, protect consumers, and support the national economy. It reaffirmed its support for the plan and for efforts aimed at improving institutional, technical work mechanisms, for the organization's vital role in ensuring product quality, safety, protecting consumers and the environment from counterfeit products.
The Council of Ministers extended its congratulations and best wishes to the revolutionary and political leadership, the Yemeni people and the wider nation, as well as to the armed forces and security services, on the occasion of the Hijri New Year 1448 AH. It reaffirmed that this year will be one of continued construction and progress in implementing fundamental transformation policies, improving administrative and production performance across all levels, and strengthening achievements related to national resilience, food security, collective work, and community initiatives.
The Council also expressed its endorsement and support for the statements of Leader Abdul-Malik Badr al-Din al-Houthi (may Allah protect him) on the occasion of the Hijra anniversary, including their directives to enhance official and popular cooperation to confront risks and challenges resulting from hostile actions against the country. It stressed the importance of unifying efforts, relying on Allah, working to end aggression, occupation, blockade so that the Yemeni people may achieve full independence and benefit from their national resources.
It further congratulated the Islamic Republic of Iran on its victory over what it described as American and Israeli aggression, considering it the result of the Iranian people's resilience and unity around their leadership and the steadfastness of its armed forces. It described the outcome as a victory for the axis of resistance and for free peoples across the Arab and Islamic world, contributing to regional security and stability.
The Council praised the resilience of the Lebanese people and the performance of the Islamic resistance in confronting the Israeli enemy and defending Lebanese territory, reaffirming Yemen's principled stance in support of Lebanon and its resistance through all available means.
It also commended the large public participation in marches condemning statements attributed to former U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the Holy Kaaba, describing them as a dignified expression of the Yemeni people. The Council condemned the visit of the head of the so-called 'Somaliland region' to Israel and the announcement of plans to open an embassy in Jerusalem, calling it a grave betrayal of the Palestinian cause.
The Council also received a briefing from the Minister of Education and Scientific Research Hassan Al-Saadi on preparations for the launch of the new academic year 1448 AH, and directed all ministers to participate in the launch and contribute to its success as part of collective governmental responsibility. The Acting Prime Minister also stressed the role of local authorities in supporting the education process, fostering community initiatives in basic and secondary education.
Finally, the Council received briefings from the Deputy Minister of Interior Major General Abdulmajeed Al-Mortada on the security situation in the capital, provinces, efforts to strengthen security and combat crime, as well as from the Acting Minister of Economy, Industry and Investment on the supply situation.
