China: The number of foreign-invested companies in China has risen for the third consecutive year, exceeding 530,000, while the cumulative total of foreign direct investment has surpassed US$3.6 trillion. According to Yemen News Agency, Xinhua News Agency reported on Sunday, citing data released by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, that in 2025, more than 8,000 foreign companies increased their investments in China, representing a year-on-year increase of over 10 percent. More than 3,000 foreign companies increased their investments during the first four months of 2026. The data also indicated that from January to April of this year, 20,113 new foreign-invested companies were established across the country, a year-on-year increase of 6.8 percent. Actual utilization of foreign direct investment (FDI) during the same period reached 287.69 billion yuan (about US$42 billion), down 10.3 percent year-on-year. However, high-tech industries bucked the trend, attracting 116.33 billion yuan in FDI, a 20.3 percent ye ar-on-year increase, accounting for 40.4 percent of total FDI in the country. According to the data, investments from Luxembourg, Switzerland, France, and the United States in mainland China rose by 110.3 percent, 60.8 percent, 58.3 percent, and 24.5 percent year-on-year, respectively.
