Citizen Sets Himself on Fire in Protest Over Unpaid Wages in Marib

Marib: A citizen from Ibb governorate set himself on fire in al-Baqma Mosque in the occupied city of Marib province in protest against his deteriorating living conditions, a local source said on Tuesday.

According to Yemen News Agency, the citizen, Abdulwahid Ali Hassan, a soldier in the ranks of the mercenary militia, set himself on fire Monday evening in al-Baqma Mosque. This act was a protest against the non-payment of his salary and his deteriorating living conditions, amidst the shock of the worshippers.

He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition due to the severe burns that engulfed his body.

The incident sparked widespread public outrage due to the difficult conditions faced by citizens in the occupied areas amidst soaring prices and the collapse of the currency.
