Sanaa: A consultative meeting held in the Capital Secretariat and chaired by the Mayor of the Capital, Dr. Hamoud Abbad, discussed mechanisms to activate the role of multi-purpose cooperative associations across the Secretariat's districts in order to achieve developmental progress within the community.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting included participation from key figures such as the Head of the Social Affairs Committee of the Local Council and Deputy Head of the Development Team in the Secretariat, Hamoud Al-Naqeeb, and Deputy Ministers of Social Affairs and Labor for the Associations Sector, Dr. Ghassan Al-Madani, Maazen Noman, and Assistant Deputy Minister Naji Al-Qawsi. They reviewed the tasks, activities, and programs of the associations aimed at enhancing local and community integration and partnership to develop development work and implement economic empowerment projects for productive families, ultimately achieving self-sufficiency.
During the meeting, the Capital Mayor emphasized the significant role entrusted to cooperative associations in strengthening participatory, cooperative work and bringing about a transformation in the community's economic development through productive family initiatives and empowerment projects, in line with the requirements of the current phase and local development needs. He noted the importance of developmental inputs and programs that transform society into an active and productive element, highlighting the need for serious action to encourage community contributions.
Dr. Abbad pointed out the keenness of the revolutionary leadership and the Supreme Political Council to enhance cooperative work in society, serve the people, build a resilient social economy, achieve comprehensive development, and attain self-sufficiency in various fields. The Mayor also confirmed that funds allocated to the Agricultural and Fisheries Initiatives Financing Unit have been redirected to economic empowerment projects through the Small and Micro Enterprises Development Authority until cooperative associations can build their institutional capacities and gain experience in performance and management.
He stressed the necessity of completing the organization, furnishing, and equipping of fish outlets in all districts of the Secretariat and handing them over to cooperative associations to operate them and provide employment opportunities. Deputy Minister for the Associations Sector, Dr. Al-Madani, emphasized the importance of focusing on the main objective of cooperative associations' programs and plans, namely economic empowerment, influencing the social and psychological aspects of citizens by developing appropriate solutions and treatments.
Dr. Abdulwahab Sharaf Al-Din, Head of the Planning Sector in the Secretariat, reviewed achievements made during the past period, evaluation indicators of field teams deployed to districts, implemented activities, work tracks, directives, and key roles for mobilization within a participatory methodology. He also addressed the comprehensive and participatory development work plan with the community over the next three years, within programs linked to field teams to mobilize society for economic empowerment and transform it toward competitive manufacturing and productive industries.
Director of the Agricultural and Fisheries Projects and Initiatives Financing Unit, Abdullah Sharaf Al-Din, reviewed the steps taken to activate the role of cooperative associations, as well as preparations for deploying researchers and field teams to survey productive families, small and micro enterprises, group and train them, and transform them into production workshops capable of creating brands that compete with foreign products. He highlighted the importance of researchers' role in conducting field surveys to develop action plans and design programs for projects that can be implemented in each district.
