Hodeida: Today, Hodeida Governor Abdullah Otaifi reviewed the progress of work at the General Authority for Fisheries in the Red Sea, the level of services provided to fishermen, and the tasks carried out at ports and fish landing centers. Governor Otaifi heard a detailed report from Authority Chairman Hussein Al-Attas on efforts to regulate fishing activities and monitor fishermen's conditions.
According to Yemen News Agency, Al-Attas reviewed the most prominent priorities for the next phase, foremost among which are modernizing marine control systems, expanding landing center services, and enhancing transparency through the electronic system. He emphasized the Authority's commitment to providing a work environment that contributes to raising the efficiency of fishermen and improving their living conditions.
Governor Otaifi praised the professional discipline he witnessed during his tour of the Authority's departments and offices, stressing that the staff's commitment to performing their duties reflects a sense of national responsibility, especially in light of the exceptional circumstances imposed by the repercussions of the aggression on the fishing sector. He explained that the local authority attaches special importance to the fishing sector as it is a pillar of food security and a major source of job opportunities and income for thousands of families.
The Governor of Hodeida pointed to the importance of strengthening the partnership with the Authority to complete its strategic projects to rehabilitate ports and fishing centers and develop infrastructure, in accordance with the leadership's directives and the program of the Government of Change and Reconstruction. He noted the importance of completing the plans developed by the late Dr. Radwan Al-Rubai, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, to develop the sector and improve production levels and post-harvest services.
The meeting was attended by the Governorate's Advisor for Fishermen and Fisheries Affairs, Mohammed Aitan, and the Authority's Directors of Fisheries, Mohammed Al-Salwi, Legal Affairs, Sadiq Badr, and Resources, Anas Al-Sabry.
