Human Rights Commission Condemns Saudi Attacks on Yemeni Infrastructure and Civilians

Sana'a:The National Commission for Human Rights has issued a strong condemnation of two recent attacks attributed to the Saudi military in Yemen's capital, Sana'a, and the Ibb governorate. These incidents involved the targeting of a telecommunications network in Al-Sayyani district and a residential home in the Shu'ub district of Sana'a.

According to Yemen News Agency, the commission described the attacks as a dangerous escalation and a clear violation of humanitarian norms. The targeting of a civilian home in the densely populated Bab Shu'ub neighborhood resulted in serious injuries to six people, including a woman and a child, and significant damage to the property.

The commission also criticized the destruction of telecommunications infrastructure in the Al-Naqleen area of Al-Sayyani District, asserting that this act was intended to isolate Yemeni citizens from the global community.

Human Rights Commission emphasized that these actions constitute war crimes under international law, specifically Articles 7 and 8 of the Rome Statute, and violate Article 33 of the Fourth Geneva Convention. The organization holds the Saudi regime and the US administration responsible for these events and urged the United Nations and the Security Council to intervene.

The commission further appealed to the Ministry of Communications to assess the damage to the telecommunications network and called for international action to address what it terms a systematic genocide against Yemenis amidst international silence.
