Taiz: The Saliah Agricultural Cooperative Society for Multi-Purpose Activities was inaugurated on Monday in Taiz Governorate, in coordination with the local authority, mobilization efforts, and the Fourth Military Region.
According to Yemen News Agency, Acting Governor Ahmed Al-Masawi emphasized the critical role of agricultural cooperatives in fostering sustainable development and enhancing community resilience. He noted that the establishment of this society completes the cooperative framework throughout the districts of the governorate.
Deputy Governor for Development Affairs Abdulwasie Al-Shamsi highlighted that the cooperatives will bolster value chains and enhance agricultural output, particularly focusing on crops such as maize, sorghum, and millet. Additionally, the cooperatives aim to promote handicrafts and small-scale productive enterprises.
Officials underscored the significance of cooperative efforts in reducing production costs, improving quality, and transitioning from individual to organized collective production.
The inauguration event concluded with the election of Abdulraqeeb Al-Hamri as the head of the cooperative board and Ahmed Abdo as secretary-general.
