Launch of Zakat al-Fitr Cash Assistance Projects in Sana’a Governorate

Sana'a: The office of the General Zakat Authority in Sana'a Governorate today launched the Zakat al-Fitr and cash assistance projects for 41,910 beneficiary families in all districts of the governorate, with a total of 820 million riyals, under the slogan "Make Them Rich on This Day."

According to Yemen News Agency, during the launch, the First Deputy Governor, Hameed Asem, praised the work and projects carried out by the Zakat Authority office in the governorate, which have come to touch every poor and needy person and various segments of society in all legitimate channels, something that was not tangible before the formation of the General Zakat Authority. He pointed out that the launch of the Zakat al-Fitr and cash assistance projects is only a small part of what is disbursed within a long list containing a number of projects worth millions of riyals, praising the efforts made by those in charge of the Authority's office, which have reflected positively in favor of the poor and needy, both in cash and medical assistance.

For his part, the Deputy Head of the General Zakat Authority for the Awareness Sector, Hafiz Allah Zayed, explained that the launch of the Zakat al-Fitr and cash assistance projects reflects the interest of the revolutionary and political leadership and the General Zakat Authority in the segment of the poor, needy, and orphans, and affirms their commitment to ensuring that mercy reaches every needy person with transparency and fairness. He considered the launch of the two projects a living embodiment of the meaning of divine mercy on earth, and a work that translates faith into life and a living image of the mercy and greatness of Islam, considering that the Islamic religion is not just slogans on paper, but word and deed in the field that touches the living conditions of people.

The Director of the Zakat Office in the governorate, Abdul Wahab Al-Tuhaif, reviewed a package of Ramadan charity projects, foremost among them the Zakat al-Fitr and cash assistance projects, which targeted 41,910 beneficiary families with an amount of 820 million riyals, while the project for those unable to work, launched at the beginning of the month of Ramadan, targeted 4,400 beneficiary families with an amount of 264 million riyals. Al-Tuhaif pointed out that the Authority's role is not limited to specific projects alone, but rather it works to attend to the concerns of the poor, needy, and destitute through the Authority's expanded projects in the month of fasting, as it adopted an initiative to support charitable bakeries to distribute bread loaves within the charitable bakeries project for this year, at a total cost of 21,226,000 riyals. He explained that charitable activities in the health sector included about 1,000 surgical operations for 1,000 people at a total cost of 50 million riyals, pointing out that these projects come within a series of charity projects implemented by the Authority's office in the governorate.

The event, attended by a number of directors of executive offices and district directors in the governorate, and the Director of the Banking Department at the Authority's office in the governorate, Yahya Abu Nashatan, featured a poem by poet Jameel Jaafar. Additionally, the Deputy Head of the General Zakat Authority for the Awareness Sector, Hafiz Allah Zayed, the Directors of the Zakat Office, Abdul Wahab Al-Tuhaif, and the Post Office, Abdul Malik Al-Mata', the Deputy Director of the Authority's office, Mohammed Sharifah, and the Director of the Banking Department in the governorate, Yahya Abu Nashatan, inspected the disbursement process at the Al-Asbahi and Dar Salam post offices in the governorate. They listened to complaints from a number of beneficiaries and the difficulties facing the cash assistance disbursement process, affirming the necessity of overcoming them during the upcoming period.

For his part, the Director of the Sana'a Region Post Office affirmed that disbursement operations are carried out through post offices continuously, to ensure facilitation of receiving cash assistance for all beneficiaries, affirming that everything will be done to facilitate difficulties and solve any problem during disbursement promptly.
