Sana'a: An expanded meeting was held today, chaired by the Acting Head of the Tax and Customs Authority, Dr. Ibrahim Mahdi, to review the phase directions for transitioning to institutional work in tax and customs operations. The meeting included the Authority's deputies for Operations Sector Ali Al-Khatib, Executive Units and Branches Abdulkarim Rasa'a, Collection Ibrahim Al-Kabsi, Information and Risk Management Abdulrahman Aishan, and general directors at the Authority.
According to Yemen News Agency, Dr. Ibrahim Mahdi indicated that the recent changes, which included a number of general directors at the Authority, came within the measures taken to complete the institutional merger procedures. He affirmed that the current appointments represent a phase of evaluation and practical testing, explaining that the criterion for continuity and success lies in commitment to work, speed in completing citizens' transactions, continuous follow-up, and assuming responsibility away from any justifications or excuses.
He stressed the importance of joining efforts and working in a team spirit to consolidate the values and principles of institutional work, embodying the partnership relationship between the Authority and citizens, and achieving the desired aspirations for the transformation sought in tax and customs work. The Head of the Tax and Customs Authority pointed out that the Authority is working to restore work to its correct institutional course, so that each sector and department performs its tasks according to specified competencies, affirming that the success of the merger requires interaction from everyone, from the competent employee up to the general director.
He touched upon the efforts accomplished in the merger process of the Authority, noting that although it started working on the project after a number of institutions, it was able to commence the actual implementation of the institutional merger, which is an achievement reflecting the serious will to develop administrative work.
Dr. Mahdi stated that the coming phase will witness addressing the staff situation, which will contribute to stabilizing the work environment and absorbing competencies, pointing out that work plans must be practical and executable, not routine plans that add no real value to performance. For their part, the Authority's deputies indicated that the merger indicators are promising, especially as there is a positive level of understanding and partnership between the various sectors.
They affirmed that the next phase requires each general department to prepare a clear plan to form its departments and organize its work, benefiting from the powers granted to it to achieve performance development and serve the Authority's objectives. The Authority's deputies pointed out that the Authority is moving towards absorbing all departments within the new structure, ensuring the integrated distribution of tax and customs competencies, enabling each department to perform its tasks according to its specialization, which enhances work efficiency and consolidates the success of the institutional merger project.
