Hodeidah: The National Human Rights Authority strongly condemned the horrific war crime carried out by the Israeli enemy's air force Tuesday evening, conducting 12 airstrikes on Hodeidah Port.
According to Yemen News Agency, the Authority described the Israeli assault as a war crime that caused injuries to a number of port workers, terrorized staff, harmed many of them, and frightened the residents of Hodeidah city. The airstrikes also destroyed critical port infrastructure, which is a primary source of Yemen's economy.
The statement emphasized that the Israeli enemy systematically targets civilian facilities, deliberately striking key docks at Hodeidah Port-a vital civilian facility serving citizens across the country-constituting a serious violation of international humanitarian law, which forbids attacks on civilian infrastructure, highlighting the deliberate disregard for the principles of distinction and proportionality.
The Authority added that this deliberate Israeli targeting is a criminal tactic aimed at starving Yemenis and disrupting the movement of ships carrying essential goods necessary for survival.
The statement noted that this brutal crime adds to Israel's blood-stained record and is part of a series of atrocities it has committed in Yemen over the past year, including last week's attacks that killed more than 250 civilians in Sana'a and Al-Jawf, including women and children, and over 30 journalists and media personnel.
The Authority affirmed that these Israeli crimes constitute blatant violations of international humanitarian law and human rights covenants, representing a complete war crime and aggression against humanity, requiring urgent international action, particularly by the United Nations, the Security Council, and human rights bodies, to halt the Israeli aggression and hold its leaders accountable before international justice.
It called on international human rights and humanitarian organizations to raise their voices against Israeli violations and not allow them to pass under the cover of silence or international complicity, warning that neglect will only lead to more bloodshed and a widening humanitarian disaster.
The Authority stressed that the blood of martyrs and the cries of the wounded and children will not be forgotten, affirming that the Yemeni people will continue defending their legitimate rights and will not be deterred by Israel's cowardly terrorist attacks from providing ongoing support to Palestine in general and heroic Gaza in particular.
