Meteorology Forecasts Thunderstorms in Multiple Yemeni Provinces

General

Sana'a: The National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning has forecast variable thunderstorms across several provinces over the next 24 hours.

According to Yemen News Agency, the center's weather bulletin indicates that thunderstorms of varying intensity are expected to affect the governorates of Saada, Hajjah, Amran, Mahwit, Sana'a, Raymah, Dhamar, Ibb, Taiz, Hodeida, and the Tihama Plain.

Variable intensity thunderstorms are also likely to impact parts of the governorates of Dhale'a, Bayda, Jawf, Ma'rib, Al Mahrah, as well as the highlands of Lahj, Abyan, and Shabwah. Additionally, the eastern and southern coasts along with adjacent inland areas are expected to experience similar weather conditions.

The center highlighted that a humid air mass is currently moving across large parts of the country. In light of these conditions, it has issued warnings to citizens about the potential dangers posed by thunderstorms and flash floods, particularly in valleys and ravines. The advisory cautions against remaining in or crossing these areas during or after rainfall.

Moreover, the center has warned of strong downward winds, hail, and reduced visibility on roads and mountain slopes due to low cloud cover, fog, and rainfall. There is also a warning about the risk of rockfalls and mudslides on mountain slopes and roads, as well as the potential collapse of buildings and traditional mud forts due to the persistent rainfall.

Authorities have been urged to take the necessary measures to prevent flash floods and ensure public safety during this period of adverse weather.
