The media:unaid and attended by the government side represented by the First Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism, Dr. Essam Al-Sanini, the Ministry's report regarding performance levels and the implementation of the Council's recommendations.
According to Yemen News Agency, the report highlighted the role and tasks carried out by the Heritage and Cultural Development Fund, particularly in recent times despite scarce resources and capabilities. The report addressed the Fund's role in restoring the Ibb Museum at a cost of 110 million riyals, as well as the Fund's collection and restoration of 57,000 archaeological manuscripts, along with other tasks and works financed by the Fund.
The Committee heard from the Deputy Minister and a number of specialists about the efforts made by the Ministry and urged them to double their efforts and work on strengthening cultural and tourism work in the current period.
During the meeting, Al-Junaid affirmed the Committee's interest in the fields of culture and tourism, and cooperation with the Ministry to resolve any difficulties that may hinder its work, pointing to the importance of unifying efforts to raise performance levels for the tasks entrusted to the Ministry in cultural and tourism aspects, and to confront the effects and repercussions of the aggression and blockade on the cultural and tourism sector.
He explained that the Committee has many topics before it, which it is studying and discussing, and that it is in the process of preparing reports concerning the subordinate divisions of the Ministry, as well as the performance levels of the Heritage and Cultural Development Fund and the Tourism Promotion Fund, through documents received by the Committee from the entities under the Ministry.
The Committee Rapporteur pointed to the importance of integration and unification of efforts among relevant entities, enhancing parliamentary oversight, meeting the requirements of the phase of change and construction, developing performance, and ensuring the correction of imbalances and deficiencies wherever they exist.
For his part, the Deputy Minister affirmed the Ministry's leadership's commitment to working on developing performance in all its tasks, including developing the tourism sector and paying attention to domestic tourism, as an alternative under the conditions of aggression and blockade on the country, within the limits of available capabilities.
He praised the Committee's efforts in following up on the Ministry's conditions and efforts in its areas of work and its commitment to implementing the Council's recommendations, serving the public interest and developing performance at the Ministry, appreciating the Committee's keenness to cooperate in resolving difficulties facing the Ministry's work amid the repercussions of the aggression and blockade.
The Committee decided to continue discussing the report in its next meeting.
