Scholar Muftah Inspects Preparations for National Program to Care for Homeless in Capital Secretariat

Sana'a: The First Deputy Prime Minister, Scholar Mohammed Muftah, inspected the progress of preparations for the National Program for the Care and Shelter of the Homeless ("Unaccompanied Mentally Ill Persons") at the main "Al-Ihsan" Center in the Capital Secretariat.

According to Yemen News Agency, during the visit, Scholar Muftah was accompanied by the Chairman of the General Zakat Authority, Sheikh Shamsan Abu Nashtan. The Executive Director of the National Program for the Care and Shelter of the Homeless, Ali Al-Razami, provided an explanation of the work carried out to equip the "Al-Ihsan" Center, which includes medical, logistical, shelter, and therapeutic facilities.

Scholar Muftah, Abu Nashtan, and officials from the Ministries of Social Affairs, Labor, and Communications reviewed the procedures followed in collecting the homeless from the streets of the Capital Secretariat and receiving them at the Al-Ihsan Center. They also examined the medical and shelter services provided to the homeless.

The First Deputy Prime Minister praised the efforts of the National Program for the Care of the Homeless, along with the support of the Zakat Authority and the Ministries of Communications and Health, in preparing and operating the main "Al-Ihsan" Center. He emphasized its role as the first cornerstone of humanitarian work, which is given special attention by the leader of the revolution, Sayyed Abdulmalik Badruddin Al-Houthi.

Scholar Muftah stressed the importance of working according to specific plans, priorities, and objective criteria in collecting the homeless from the streets. The primary criterion targets those whose actions may pose a risk to passersby, especially children and women, or property. The second criterion includes those who have lost the ability to maintain minimal personal hygiene standards, as well as the disabled, those unable to secure their basic food and drink needs, and the elderly.
